The Deputy Majority Chief Whip and MP for Ada, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has stirred controversy by accusing the Minority of prioritising press conferences and walkouts over real development, despite their numbers in Parliament.
Speaking during the heated Akwatia by-election on September 2, 2025, she said, “I will borrow Bawumia's words; ‘the gap will be huge; very huge; we’re winning.’ If you vote one today, you’re voting for a walkout, you’re voting for a press conference. My observation in the chamber is that the Minority is at its best when it comes to press conferences and walkouts, not holding government to account.”
Cudjoe argued that while NDC MPs are focused on development in their constituencies, the Minority has “organised more press conferences than the number of MPs they have.”
She added, “Instead of lobbying for development, they distract Parliament. So, which will you choose; press conferences or development? It’s up to the people of Akwatia.”
The by-election, she stressed, would be a test of whether voters prefer “a government that is working and cares for the people” or an opposition focused on media spectacles.
