Act Alliance Ghana Forum donates to flood victims

The Act Alliance Ghana Forum, a coalition of Churches and benevolent organizations, have presented relief items worth $50,000 to over 1,000 flood victims in five districts of the Northern Region.

The districts were Nanumba North, Nanumba South, Nanumba East, Nanumba West and Yendi, Mr Emmanuel Nyarko Ankamah, National Coordinator of Presbyterian Relief Services and Development, made this known to the press in Accra at the weekend.

He said the items came from the Presbyterian Relief Services and Development (PRS&D), Christian Aid, Christian Community Micro Finance LTD, and ICCO.

They include cereals, bags of beans and cartons of cooking oil, key soaps, blankets, mosquito nests, plastic bowls and bundles of roofing sheets.

Mr Ankamah said the organizations were working together to offer humanitarian assistance, advocacy and development in 140 countries worldwide.

Act Alliance is a coalition of more than 130 churches on the globe. Mr Ankamah said the items were sponsored by the Secretariats of Act Alliance in Geneva.

He cautioned the beneficiaries to desist from selling the items. Mr Ankamah appealed to the residents in the communities to avoid acts that could impact negatively on the environment to trigger disaster.

Mr Abu Adams, Northern Regional Operations Manager of NADMO on behalf of the Victims, expressed gratitude to the organizations for the gesture.
