Accra bourse opens week on positive note

Accra, April 26, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange finished up after a moderate session on Monday.

At the close, the benchmark GSE-All share index was up 21.69 points at 6,457.97 points from 6,436.28 points on Friday. Traded volumes equally rose to 356,100 shares from 112,900 shares at the previous session.

Change for the year to date stands at 81.74 per cent. On the broader market, there were 10 positive price changes. Trust Bank Limited led the pack with a 500 cedis gain to close at 23,500 cedis; Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL) and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) went up by 200 cedis each to end trading at 10,700 cedis and 87,100 cedis, respectively.

Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) made 51 cedis to close 17,401 cedis; Societe General SSB Bank was up by 26 cedis at 29,577 cedis while Mechanical Lloyd Company gained three cedis at 3,055 cedis.

Four equities - Accra Brewery Limited (ABL); British America Tobacco (BAT); Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) and Home Finance Company gained two cedis each to close trading at 654 cedis; 7,462 cedis; 1,477 cedis and 9,602 cedis in that order.

Market Capitalisation went up to 20,009.01 billion cedis compared to the previous close of 19,954.05 billion cedis.
