Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has visited the site of the collapsed building at Accra New Town to assess the situation and extend the government’s support to affected residents.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend after a heavy rainfall, left parts of the community in shock as emergency services rushed to rescue trapped individuals and secure the area.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang interacted with rescue officials, community leaders, and some of the affected families, assuring them that investigations will be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse and measures taken to prevent similar occurrences.
Authorities have since cordoned off the site while structural engineers and safety experts continue their assessment.

Meanwhile, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), three persons have been confirmed dead following the collapse of the building.
20 victims have also been rescued.
