Accra Mayor & TMA CEO To Be Fired

Following the removal of three DCEs from office last week, investigations conducted by the Special Investigative Squad (SIS) of THE INDEPENDENT has revealed that seven more of such appointees will soon follow suit.

Prominent among the seven are the Municipal Chief Executive of Accra, Mr. Solomon Ofei Darko (pictured, standing) and Mr. Samuel Ashong Narh, Tema Municipal Chief Executive.

The names of the other five could not be obtain by the SIS before it went to press.

Reconnaissance missions to the Presidency in persuit of the names of the affected DCEs revealed that the Minister of Local Government, Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu recently forwarded the names of 10 Metropolitan/DCEs with a recommendation to President Kufuor for dismissal.

In line with the Local Government Ministers? recommendations, the three were kicked out because of various acts of malfeasance and in some cases, acrimonious relations with NPP constituency executives and members.

In the case of the seven who are yet to receive their sack order, the recommendations for their dismissal were for similar reasons.
