Accident involving Russian Chief Justice to be investigated

Police have launched investigations into Monday’s accident that involved the Russian Chief Justice, Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Lebedev, an official has said.

In an interview on TV3’s News @10 on Monday, Frank Davies, the President of the Greater Accra Branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), expressed disgust at the flagrant disregard of traffic regulation by the tipper truck driver, who rammed his truck into the entourage of Justice Lebedev.

“More so, it happened near a police barrier,” he noted, adding that it would have been “very, very, very embarrassing” if the Russian Chief Justice had died.

He hinted that investigations have been launched into the accident forthwith.

Justice Lebedev had addressed the Annual Bar Conference in the Volts Region capital of Ho and was returning to Accra, where he was scheduled to meet President John Dramani Mahama and Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho.

He is currently on admission at the 37 Military Hospital and is expected to be flown back to Russia for further treatment.
