Abuga Pele predicts NDC victory in 2004 elections

Tamale, FEB 1, GNA - Mr Abuga Pele, Member of Parliament for the Chiana/Paga constituency has indicated that the NPP government's inability to meet the aspirations and the needs of Ghanaians had made things very easy for the NDC to return to power at the end of this year.

"The abysmal performance of the NPP government is a clear indication that they would be shown the exit through the ballot come December this year for the NDC to come back to power," Mr Pele told the GNA in an interview in Tamale after visiting some communities in his constituency. The communities he visited included, Sirigu, Nabango, Kandiga, Gwenia, Chiana and Katiu where he interacted with party members including women groups, the youth and leadership of the party.

Mr Abuga claimed that the entire NPP membership, including the President had sensed "the down fall of the NPP" and the only way was to intimidate members of the NDC and other opposition parties including bribing the electorate to retain power saying, "the trick will fail them".

He said the whole country was now bemoaning the difficult living conditions, which was growing worse since the NPP government came to power and claimed that most people including the opposition parties that supported them to defeat the NDC in the last elections had regretted their actions and called on all to join hands to throw them out of power.

He appealed to members of the NDC to withstand all intimidation and embarrassment that the NPP government would cause them and remain steadfast and more committed and loyal to NDC since December was just around the corner.
