Abudus Call For Immediate Justice In Tamale mayhem

The Abudu Gate in the Dagbon Traditional Area in the Northern Region has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the criminal attack and vandalism against members of the Abudu family in Tamale.

They also called for commensurate compensation for the families of all those who were killed and those who lost property in addition to adequate and convincing assurances and guarantees of security for all in Tamale.

A statement signed by Mr Amadu Kaleem, Spokesman of the Abudu Gate, expressed outrage at the recent carnage in Tamale and said it held the Leadership of the Andani Gate responsible.

"It was crystal clear that the destruction, mayhem, and carnage that was visited on Tamale that day, was planned and directed by the Leadership of the Andani family," the statement said.

It said: "The failure of the security agencies to take firm and decisive actions against leading members of the Andani family, who orchestrated the March 2002 violence in Yendi as the Wuaku Commission's Report and Police investigations revealed, had emboldened the perpetrators of the mischief to embark on the recent Tamale carnage."

The statement said it was unfortunate that the murder, injuries, and the burnt houses and the continuing threats against the lives and property of the members of the Abudu family were the prices they had to pay for co-operating with the security agencies and government.

The Abudu family, it said warned that until the truth about both the March 2002 incident in Yendi and the carnage in Tamale were established, and justice was manifested, it would be difficult to restrain the Abudu youth from defending themselves and their heritage against any act of provocation.
