A recent incident in which a taxi fell into a ditch, injuring four people, has brought tensions in the community to a boiling point.

According to residents, the ditch was caused by an abandoned road project. They explained that the problem began about seven months ago when the contractor halted work, leaving a developing pothole that has since expanded into a deep and dangerous ditch.

Since then, it has grown in size, causing repeated accidents and disrupting economic activities in the area.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Tuesday, residents expressed frustration and anger over the situation, insisting that accidents on the road could easily be prevented if the Municipal Assembly took swift action.

The Chairman of the DKC Drivers Association, Philip Ansere, revealed that they had met with the Municipal Chief Executive, Wisdom Boamah, to discuss the problem, but no measures had been taken.

He added that economic activities in the area come to a standstill whenever it rains heavily, as the ditch prevents drivers and commuters from using the road.

The drivers have renewed their call for the MCE to address the problem urgently. They are demanding that the Municipal Assembly take immediate steps to repair the road and prevent further accidents.

Residents say they are counting on the Assembly to take responsibility and deliver a lasting solution to the pressing issue.
