Abronye has suffered enough for NPP; we must protect him - Kennedy Agyapong

Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has condemned the life threatening attack on the Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, known in political circles as Abronye DC.

The NPP firebrand said the recent attack on the vociferous communicator of the party was unwarranted – hence, the party must ‘protect’ him.

“The guy stands for the truth . . . the attack on Abronye DC is wrong”, he said.

Abronye DC was attacked by some unknown persons on Saturday, January 13, when he was leaving the residence of the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atebubu-Amantin having met with some party members on his national executive campaign bid.

He was on admission at the Duayaw Nkwanta Catholic Hospital after he suffered a fracture and shoulder dislocation from the beatings he received. His car was also destroyed in the process by the thugs believed to be supporters of the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh.

They are reported to have carried out the attack in protest over constant calls by Abronye DC for the President to sack the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, an allegation the Regional Minister has since denied.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political talk show ‘Boiling Point’, Kennedy Agyapong vowed to support Abronye to bring his attackers to book.

“The gentleman has suffered enough for the party and does not deserve such barbaric treatment by supporters of the regional minister who hasn't contributed anything towards the party's growth and development”, he said.

The outspoken NPP MP however alleged that “I am convinced that Asomah-Cheremeh was behind the attack on Abronye because Abronye stands for the truth.”
