Nana Akosua Nkrumah Dasah III, Queenmother of Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, is calling on the government to fulfill its promise of giving $1 million to each constituency in the country.

According to her, though there are reports that the money has been released by central government, her people cannot boast of a single social amenity or infrastructural development like school, toilet, hospital or clinic.

She expressed total disappointment in the government for neglecting the community for quite too long, alleging that pregnant women are dying because of lack of a health facility in the community.

According to her, the government’s continuous neglect is a major concern to the community, and the people wonder whether they are part of Ghana or not.

Speaking at the inauguration of a school block in the community recently, Nana Akosua Nkrumah Dasah III said both the Member of Parliament (MP) and the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, William Darko, are all aware of their plight but no help has been offered. The new classroom block has a library stocked with reading books. Sandals were also distributed to some of the students.

She cautioned that until the government responded to their plight, they, the citizens of Abofrem, would not be expecting any political party or politician in the community to campaign. According to Nana Akosua Nkrumah Dasah, she financed the construction of the school building because she valued education and the impact it would have on her people if they are well educated.
