For the children of Madam Abena Dokua of blessed memory, there is nothing more important than giving back to society in a sustainable way such as investing in the future of children through education.

Their mother who died about 18-years ago, though did not get the opportunity to acquire formal education, was very passionate about schooling as she strongly believed education is the best weapon that can be used to defeat the world.

This has inspired her seven children to take up the task of ensuring students in Kyebi and its surrounding communities in the Eastern Region have access to quality education to keep a lasting memory of their mother through the Abena Dokua Educational Foundation.

The Abena Dokua Educational Foundation since its inception six years ago, has improved the lives of many school children and their guardians through various humanitarian projects.

Latest on their record is the donation of school materials worth GHC23,000 to almost three hundred (300) primary pupils in public schools in Kyebi.

The items which were handed over to the pupils and their teachers from selected schools in the community on December 20, 2018, include newly sewn school uniforms, exercise books and textbooks.

Addressing the pupils and their teachers at the brief ceremony, Founder of the Abena Dokua Foundation, Kwaku Boateng advised the pupils to be studious so they become powerful and responsible adults.

He reiterated that education is the best gift that must be cherished because knowledge remains with the individual forever.

“If education becomes your backbone, nobody can take that from you. Knowledge is so powerful regardless wherever you are, whether you’re in America, in Africa if you have education that will remain with you forever. You don’t have to come from a special place or attend those fancy schools to be educated,” he stressed.

The Virginia based Healthcare Administrator reminded the gathering of some of the previous initiatives of the Abena Dokua Foundation such as donation of money to schools, especially the Presbyterian Primary School where their late mother used to go to fellowship.

He mentioned that the Foundation has awarded a Scholarship fund of GHC5,000 to the Presbyterian Primary and Junior High School in Kyebi to support brilliant but needy students.

Mr. Boateng further disclosed plans of the Abena Dokua Educational Foundation to open ICT centres in Kyebi to help students develop interest in Information and Technology.

He commended Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah and his US based associates, Collins Owusu Osei, Dr. Ato Ogoe and Kamel Musah for their unwavering support and called on other natives of Kyebi and NGOs to partner the Dokua Foundation to improve lives through education.
