The Shama District Assembly of Western Region has planned of completing at least seventy percent of abandoned projects in the District by the close of 2018.

There are several abandoned projects dotted across the Shama District.

These include schools, roads, markets and most importantly the Shama Polyclinic.

Shama has close to 20 abandoned projects yet to be completed, ranging from construction and reshaping of roads, construction of drains, construction of classroom blocks, upgrading of the District Health Center into a Polyclinic among others, District Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Amoah told GhanaWeb's Regional Correspondent, Daniel Kaku, as he spoke of plans for the District for 2018 over the weekend at Shama.

The Assembly’s inability to complete the projects has been blamed on the change of governments and the lack of financial commitment.

However, “a greater number of these abandoned projects will be completed this year 2018”.

According to the DCE there are concrete plans to put the district in a good financial stead to be able to take on some of the projects.

Roads

Mr. Amoah said “All other things being equal this year will see the completion of the reshaping of the Shama Junction to main Shama road. We want to asphalt that stretch of road”.

“Already works are ongoing on the stretch of road linking Asemasa and Awona beach. We will see to it that it gets completed this year. The Yenikrom – Komfueku road will also be completed. The Yiabiw road will also be completed this year”.

Shama Polyclinic

Mr. Joseph Amoah is optimistic that, works on the embattled Shama polyclinic will be completed this year. “Works on the Shama polyclinic has been abandoned for more than a decade due largely to financial constraints”.

“But the district prioritizes on the well – being of the residents especially their health. So what we have decided to do is to commit our share of the one million per constituency to seeing to the completion of the polyclinic”, the DCE indicated.

Schools

The Shama District Chief Executive Mr. Amoah assured the assembly will see to the completion of the Asemasa No.2 and Apimayiem school projects.
