Kumasi, Nov 1, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Branch of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has said it was not true that Mr Akwasi Bosompem is the Regional Secretary of the Party.
It expressed shock about a recent statement purported to have been issued by Mr Bosompem on behalf of the Party in the region on the centenary celebration of the birth of Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
A statement signed by Mr Samuel Kwabena Danso, Regional Chairman, and issued in Kumasi at the weekend, said Mr Bosompem had since last year, been relieved of his post for indiscipline and disrespect for the Party's rules and regulations.
The statement said the regional executives then appointed Mr Daniel Essien as the Acting Regional Secretary and wondered why Mr Bosompem should still parade himself as the Secretary.
It noted, however, that much as Mr Bosompem remained a member of the CPP, he is not an executive member and therefore called on the media and the public to be circumspect in dealing with him. The statement urged party members and the public to deal directly with the CPP regional executives in all the Party's activities instead of Mr Bosompem in their own interest. 01 Nov. 09
