APC richer than NPP - Hassan Ayariga

The All People’s Congress (APC) is richer than the largest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which goes around begging and soliciting money to run its campaign, Hassan Ayariga, presidential nominee of the APC, has said.

According to him, unlike the APC, the NPP cannot boast of offices in all constituencies within the country, a situation that raises doubts about the party’s preparedness to win power with only two months to the 2016 elections.

His criticism of the opposition party follows claims that he copied verbatim some ideas of the party’s flag bearer and running mate.

But responding to these comments by the NPP, Mr Ayariga said: “They should be careful. I don’t want to lambaste them. When I lambaste them, they will cry all over Ghana.”

“Go and ask the NPP how many offices they have in Ghana. How many cars do they have? They are using individuals’ cars to do campaign, not political party cars. Who is sponsoring them?

“Nobody is sponsoring the APC, I am doing it on my own. How is Nana Akufo-Addo sponsoring the NPP? He can’t sponsor NPP, people are sponsoring him. He goes round looking for money. Have you ever seen me travel looking for money? They go soliciting funds but go and ask my members, nobody has ever paid dues to my party. The party was formed by me, not by a group of NPP members.

“APC was formed by Hassan Ayariga and in less than two months we have 250 offices. Go and ask the NPP whether they can show evidence of 250 offices across Ghana. We have satisfied the conditions and requirements of the EC, we did the first time before any other political party could be on the move. This is a serious political party. So if we come out with our policy and you think that we have copied your policy, where do you think? …NPP should learn how to do politics.”
