AMA Poverty Alleviation Scheme Not Ready....

? APPLICANTS EXPRESS DISAPPOINTMENT Applicants of the Poverty Alleviation Scheme of the AMA have expressed their frustration and disappointment about the assembly?s inability to release the money.

Some of the applicants have therefore decided to give up on their request, but others have been making daily trips to the AMA head office over the last six months only to be told that work was still in progress.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the AMA Poverty Alleviation Committee, Mr. Ben Annan, who is also the Presiding Member of the assembly, said the committee had been overwhelmed by the number of applications, adding that each application has to be subjected to careful scritiny to determine the credibility and credit worthiness among other requirement of the applicants before the loan can be granted.

He also said the delay could be attributed to the fact that the committee has no computers to facilitate the quick processing of the applications. Everything is being done manually.

Mr. Annan said however that the committee has now finished vetting all the applications and they are now getting ready to invite the applicants to collect their money.
