AG to expedite action on Saviour Church of Ghana docket

The General Superintendent of Saviour Church of Ghana, Opanin Elia Asirifi Dadeako, has made a passionate appeal to the Attorney-General to expedite action on the docket in connection with the Juansa attack of some members in September last year.

According to the General Superintendent, who is also the Spiritual Head of the Church, 11 people who were arrested by the Konongo Divisional Police Command in connection with the attack are still not being prosecuted.

Opanin Dadeako made the appeal when he addressed about 2,000 members of the church after a match through the principal streets of Gomoa Nyanyano over the weekend, as part of activities commemorating the church's 90th anniversary celebration.

He recounted that the Konongo Police upon the completion of their investigations, forwarded the docket to the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi, and were in the process of arraigning the suspects before court when they received an order from the Ashanti Regional Police Command to stop the process, as the Command awaited for advise on the case from the Attorney General’s Office.

He further recalled that during the Juansa attack, when members had gone there for a crusade, six vehicles were destroyed by the attackers while six members of the church sustained various degrees of injuries.

Opanin Dadeako gave the assurance that the peace-loving and law-abiding members of the church had, and will continue to respect the laws of the land, but cautioned that since nobody is above the law, the perpetrators of that heinous crime at Juansa in the Ashanti Region must be made to face the full rigours of the law.

Opanin Dadeako regretted that members have for the past 16 years lived as refugees as a result of persistent attacks meted out to them by members of the other faction of the church.

He intimated that members would be converging at Akyem Osiem in the Eastern Region in a fortnight to celebrate the Remembrance Day of his father, Opanin Isaac Asirifi Dadeako, of blessed memory, founder of the church who passed on in 1947.

He, therefore, appealed to the security agencies to provide them with maximum security to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration.
