October 7, 2018 marks exactly a year after the infamous Atomic Junction gas explosion that killed 7 and left over 132 persons with various degrees of injuries.

The unfortunate incident also claimed the life of Mohammed Ashiley who works with NET 2 TV a subsidiary of Kencity and was assigned to the presidency.

More than twenty-five (25) vehicles were burnt beyond repairs as a result of the gas explosion after owners of the some of the vehicles abandoned them at the mercy of the fire and fled for the lives at the heat of the explosion.

Preliminary reports suggest that a tanker caught fire at the gas-filling station while discharging triggering two explosions which killed 7 persons, while an official disclosed that 132 persons have been left with various burn injuries.

The explosion began at a state-owned GOIL liquefied natural gas station and spread to a Total petrol station across the street, sending a giant fireball high into the night sky and forcing frightened residents including students of PRESEC to flee.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has after the incident initiated various measure including the cylinder recirculation module to avert a recurrence in the country.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Hassan Tampuli, the module will ensure door to door delivery of LPG in the country.

He debunked assertions that the module, when implemented, will create job losses among LPG operators.

“I have said it many times with all the integrity around me that the LPG operators will be the fulcrum around which the module will operate,” he said.
