A soldier working with the Base Workshop in Burma Camp was paid GH¢7,000 to supply 10 AK 47 rifles according to Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

He revealed that the amount which was part payment of an agreed figure was made on September 10, 2019, by Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, owner of the Citadel Hospital at Alajo in the Greater Accra Region.

“On 10th September 2019, Dr. Mac-Palm and Mr. Ezor procured from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, some essential chemicals to be mixed with gun powder, stone chippings, surgical needles and powdered pepper for their operations. He also contracted a worker at the Base Workshop in Burma Camp to supply 10 AK 47 rifles. He made an advance payment of GH¢7,000,” he disclosed.

The Minister on Tuesday revealed that a top military officer and other junior rank officers linked in the foiled coup attempt have been arrested in connection with the foiled coup plot.

“There are military persons including an officer, who are in custody and being interrogated in connection with this incident,” he revealed on Accra-based Starr Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm owner of Cidatel Hospital Hospital and his two accomplices – Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) - are currently in the custody of the BNI over the alleged plot.

Many have given varying interpretations to the claim by the government taking into account the type of weapons that were retrieved from the suspects during last Friday’s raid by the security agencies.
