A Fair With a Difference

The Chief Executive of the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, Madam Esther Ofori, has appealed to exhibitors of the forthcoming 8th Ghana International Trade Fair to register on time and desist from the attitude of trooping in to register at the last hour. The deadline for registration is on the January 30, 2002.

She made this appeal at a press briefing at the Ghana Trade Fair Centre in Accra on Thursday.

The Chief Executive said this year's fair will be seen differently as the Centre is undergoing rehabilitation works. Exhibitors will be grouped according to their products to enhance easy location. For example, cosmetics, the African market and textiles will be allocated specific pavilions. Directional maps will be available to the general public for easy location of the various exhibiting companies. Pavilions will also be numbered.

Among issues discussed were the need for exhibitors to acquire ID cards to facilitate movement in and out of the premises. There are plans to increase security personnel whenever there is large turnout at the gates and on the premises, to decrease theft cases in the pavilions.

On the spot advertisements will also be organised for exhibitors to promote their goods on the radio and television at reasonable prices.

There will be "match-making" during the fair as Ghanaian companies will be linked up with foreign exhibitors to open up business opportunities.

Madam Ofori said prices of stands are very moderate and exhibitors can share the space if it cannot be afforded.

The International Fair will be held between February 28 and March 11, 2002.
