A Delegation from Asere Stool calls on Minister

A delegation from the Asere stool yesterday called on the Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr. Alexander Asum-Ahensah to congratulate him on his appointment as well as discuss issues bothering on the Ga State, including Chieftaincy issues.

The delegation was led by the Ga State Akwashong Mantse (supreme warrior), Nii Owula Kpakpa Blofonyo. Other members of the delegation included, Nii Okyeame Ashitey, Asere Linguist and Nii Armah, Odorkor Mantse.

According to the delegation, the entire Ga state is not happy with the current situation and therefore called on the government through the Ministry to help restore order and dignity to the Region.

They believe that Accra is the eye of Ghana and any unlawful disturbances can lead to uncontrollable situations.

They added that they are still challenging the election, nomination and installation of Dr. Jo Blankson as Ga Mantse and made it clear that Nii Blofonyo is both the Asere Akwashong Mantse and Ga State Akwashong Mantse and has a vital role in the nomination and installation of a Ga Mantse, therefore his non-involvement in the installation of Dr. Blankson, is contrary to Ga custom, and therefore makes the installation illegal.

They presented documents of their claim and petitions to the Greater Accra House of Chief and called on the Minister to help speed up the case so as to end the matter.

“If Dr. Jo Blankson is declared a legal Ga Mantse, we will all support him, but we want the right thing to be done” Nii Okyeame Ashitey added.

Thanked the Government for its supports towards a peaceful Homowo festival this year.

The minister on his part thanked them for their visit and the peaceful nature they have handled issues, He promised to work hand in hand with them so as to make Accra a peaceful Region.

He urged them to continue using due processes in addressing all their grievances. He added that, even though the constitution does not allow government to interfere with chieftaincy issues, the government will not allow unlawful situations to go out of hand.
