9 innovators to vie for Israeli Green Innovation Award at the 7th Ghana Garden and Flower Show

Nine Ghanaians with innovative products that promote green innovation will on Sunday, 1st September, 2019 vie for the Green Innovation Award-a fully sponsored return trip to Israel for capacity building in their area of expertise.

The Green Innovation Award is an award scheme to honor individuals that come up with innovative ideas related to the growth of the floriculture industry in Ghana. It is a partnership between the Israeli embassy in Ghana and the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement to encourage green innovation in Ghana.

The nine shortlisted contestants went through a rigorous selection process beginning with writing about their ideas and producing a 90-second video to showcase it. The pitch will be held as part of activities lined up for this year’s Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS) scheduled to take place from 28th August to 3rd September, 2019 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park. The award will be presented during the closing ceremony of the GGFS.

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Shani Cooper-Zubida says “The State of Israel is a nation of innovation and helps to stimulate innovation wherever it finds itself, thus the embassy is excited to introduce the Green Innovation Competition to help develop Ghana’s floriculture industry, particularly among the youth”.
