8 die in ghastly accident on Techiman- Kintampo road

Eight (8) persons have been confirmed dead on the Techiman-Kintampo road in the Bono East Region after two vehicles collided head on, MyNewGh.com reports.

ASP Andrews Okonegye who is the head of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) at Techiman Municipality, told MyNewsGh.com that the incident involves a Kia Sephia taxi cab with registration number BA 1356-P and a Mercedes Benz cargo truck with registration number AS 9554-G.

According to him, the taxi cab driven by one Kwame Mensah aged 26, was heading to Techiman from Kintampo with four other occupants on board while the cargo truck driven by one Yaw Offei was heading towards the opposite direction with two occupants on board.

He reveals that the driver of the truck is suspected to have lost control and run into the lane of the oncoming taxi cab resulting in the collision.

“Two occupants in the taxi died on the spot but later we confirmed that all 5 including the driver died at the hospital as well as the three others in the cargo truck”, he told MyNewsGh.com.

It is gathered that the cargo truck belongs to Kwasi Gyan Dwomoh Construction Company Limited and was conveying school desks to a location before the accident.
