752 persons killed in road crashes from January to March 2025

The Public Relations Officer of the National Roads Safety Authority, Pearl Adusu Sateckla, has disclosed that 752 persons were killed in road crashes within the first three months of 2025.

Speaking on UTV and monitored by GhanaWeb on Friday, April 25, 2025, she cautioned drivers to exercise restraint on the roads.

"In the first three months of 2025, 752 persons were killed in road crashes. We also recorded 650 pedestrian knockdowns. I urge drivers to exercise caution when driving because over-speeding kills," she noted.

She further indicated that the NRSA has issued a public alert to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), urging them to take immediate steps to ensure that billboards do not obstruct road signs, particularly along highways.

"The NRSC has issued a public alert to the various MMDCEs to ensure that billboards do not block road signs on the highway, aside the billboards, some road signs have also been blocked by trees. We are currently engaging the Ghana Highway Authority to support in addressing the issue," she lamented.

Pearl Adusu Sateckla also called on all stakeholders to collaborate to enhance safety on the roads.
