7 New Vehicles For President Kufuor

Government is buying two bullet proof state-of-the-art customs made Toyota Land cruiser armoury level 7 vehicles and five Toyota Land cruiser vehicles at a cost of $477,380 for use by President Kufuor.

A letter dated 22nd July, 2002 and signed by Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo authorized the Controller and Accountant General to establish a letter of credit in the sum of $286,428 to cover the 60 per cent down payment.

The balance of $190,952 representing 40 per cent of the total cost is to be paid upon delivery of the vehicles. The bullet proof vehicles with ?all modicums? including two fully armed Toyota Land cruisers are being imported from Messrs Bukkerhave Limited Norgesvej#2, P. O. Box 140 DK 5700, Svenbord, Denmark.

NPP insiders believe that the vehicles are meant for the campaign of President Kufuor in the build up to the 2004 elections.
