A 68-year-old woman has been dragged before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly lacing Akpetshie, a local alcoholic drink, with a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

Patricia Ali, who could barely walk, allegedly had in her possession 69 wrappers of a substance suspected to be Indian Hemp when police officers raided her house at Peace Village, near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.

Police officers, according to Superintendent of Police Patience Mario, were informed of the activities of the old woman and decided to storm the place.

She said the woman told the police that a certain man gave the substances to her to sell and that she could identify him.

Supt Mario told the court that efforts were being made to arrest the said man to assist the police in investigations.

Meanwhile, the court presided over by His Honour Mr Aboagye Tandoh, has granted the old woman bail in the sum of GH?50,000.00, with three sureties.

This was after her lawyer prayed the court to consider the age and medical condition of the old woman who was struggling to stand in the dock.

The hearing continues on May 21, 2018.
