66% want to leave the country

A survey conducted for the BBC shows some 40% of Ghanaians felt better off compared to a year ago, 56% said the NPP government is doing well, but 66% of Ghanaians still want to leave the country.

The BBC conducted a survey of people living in 10 African nations. The Pulse of Africa poll (read) gives new insight into how Africans see themselves and the world. It revealed Africans are extremely proud of their continent, its culture and natural riches.

Below we present a summary of Ghanaian result:

• 56% said the NPP governments is doing well.
  
• Although many Ghanaians are proud of their country, only 34% wanted to live in Ghana. The US, the UK, France and Canada were popular destinations - but no other African countries except South Africa were.

• 64% of Ghanaians said they preferred to wear Western-style clothes.

• Some 17% thought the goverment was doing a good job in fighting corruption

• 40% of Ghanaians felt better off compared to a year ago

• About a third of Ghanaians think women should only be involved in family and household matters, i.e "The man should be the head of the family"
