66 Artillery commended for protecting Military land

Dominic Nitiwul, the Minister of Defense, has commended the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho for protecting lands belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces.

He said unlike other military zones in the country, the 66 Artillery Regiment was able to protect its vast land, with opportunities for other military projects.

Mr. Nitiwul said this when he visited the Regiment as part of his garrison tour.

He expressed worry about accommodation challenges in the barracks and assured that funds would be provided for the completion of two 32-unit storey building before the end of February next year.

Mr Ntiwul also promised the Unit three 50-seater buses and an ambulance by the first quarter of 2018.

He lauded the Unit for efforts at keeping peace in the Region and for initiating Aquaculture project with support from the government and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

"This is the spirit of the soldier being innovative, I have seen it here and I am glad".

Mr. Nitiwul said government would soon roll out the “Armed Forces in Development” programme, to engage the military in developmental projects such as tree planting and construction.

Lieutenant Colonel Bernard Baba Pantoah, Commanding Officer of the Regiment lauded government for the foresight and reiterated the commitment of the Regiment to peace and development.
