66 Artillery commended for peace in Volta Region

Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Volta Regional Minister at the weekend lauded the officers and men of the 66 Artillery Regiment (Volta Barracks) for their efforts at maintaining peace and order in the region.

He said the soldiers exhibited “high sense of professionalism” in handling conflict situations in the region last year and commended them for their commitment to duty.

Mr Afotey Agbo made the commendation at a Regimental Dinner Dance for officers of the Unit in Ho.

He said though the region is battling ethnic, land and chieftaincy conflicts, the people are living in “peace and comfort” due to “the good work of our men in uniform”.

“Our people are no longer living in fear. They are living in peace and comfort. We are grateful,” Mr Afotey Agbo stated.

He said the Volta Regional Coordinating Council is proud of the Regiment and asked the soldiers to remain professional.

Mr Afotey Agbo pledged 100 bags of cement towards the completion of a swimming pool project at the barracks.

Major Emmanuel Sampson, the Second-In-Command of the Regiment said the event was to foster civil-military relations.

Participants wined and dined and were treated to good music provided by the Supreme Canons Band of the Regiment.
