Six Universities will vie for honours in the 2019 Newsroom Contest which takes place today at the LBC auditorium of University of Professional Studies – Accra (UPSA).

Winners including semi-finalists of the 2019 Newsroom Contest will have the opportunity to represent Ghana at the forthcoming maiden edition of the West Africa Newsroom Contest scheduled for March next year.

Communication students of accredited Universities have been encouraged to partake in the Contest as a means to deepen their understanding of communication and its practice outside the lecture halls and build their confidence and skills in writing, public speaking, communication strategies and research as well as improve on their memory, analytical prowess and socialization.

According to a statement by Cheetah Communications, organizers of the Contest, the host school, UPSA, Wisconsin International University College, African University College of Communications, Islamic University College and Ghana Institute of Journalism, the three time winners and defending champions will participate in this year’s Contest which tees off from 9:00am today.

“We are looking for a healthy contest. And we expect the competing to demonstrate greater understanding in the various areas of communication in their bid to go home with the diadem,” founder and President of the Newsroom Contest, Mr. Raymond Baxey, said.
