Matchday 10 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League was honoured across all match venues in the country with Inter Allies and Liberty Professionals being the talk of the town after the weekend round of matches.

Matchday 10 produced 27 goals which were an improvement of the 15 goals scored in matchday 9 from the various league venues.

GhanaWeb.com looks at 6 things we learned from this weekend round of matches.

Victorien Adebayor produced a Ronaldinho kind of goal

The Inter Allies captain scored a sensational goal at the Golden City Park against Berekum Chelsea on Saturday which got a lot of attention on social media.

Some social media users were soo much in love with the goal that they compared it to the famous dancing goal which was scored by legendary Brazilian forward Ronaldinho against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge for Barcelona in the Champions League.

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways

After drawing two games on the row against Ashgold SC and Aduana Stars, Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways over the weekend after beating Bechem United by 3-2 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Two goals from Kofi Kordzi and a goal from captain Fatawu Mohammed ensured victory for the Phobians against Bechem United after Prince Adu Kwabena got the match opener for the visitors.

The result took Hearts of Oak to 7th on the league log with 15 points while Bechem United remained 9th with 14 points after 10 rounds of games.

Relegation keeps threatening King Faisal

Alhaji Grusah's King Faisal are still waiting for their first win in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League after losing by 2-1 to Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Nana Fosu Gyaboa Park on Friday.

Though the Kumasi based club continues to score in their respective games, their leaking defence makes it impossible for them to win games as they cannot keep a clean sheet.

King Faisal now lie at the bottom of the league table with only four points out of the 30 points which were available after the first 10 round of games.

Medeama SC home invisibility broken

Elmina Sharks FC ended Medeama’s unbeaten run at the Akoon Community Park over the weekend with a 2-1 win.

Sharks produced a sensational comeback on Sunday through Alhaji Mustapha and Benjamin Bernard Boateng’s last-minute winner after Prince Opoku Agyemang scored the first goal for the Mauve and Yellows in Tarkwa.

Sharks’ victory comes as a big one because both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko were put to the sword at the Akoon Community Park by Medeama SC.

Liberty crucifies Aduana in Dansoman

Liberty Professionals hammered defending Champions, Aduana Stars by 5-2 at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman after the visitors took the lead on two occasions through marksman Yahaya Mohammed.

Goals from Elvis Kyei Baffour, Abass Nuhu and Mubarack Alhassan ensured victory for the home side who were coming into the game after a lone goal defeat to Ashgold at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on matchday 9.

Aduana Stars now have two heavy defeats on the road after losing by 3-1 to Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on matchday 8 and yesterday’s defeat to the Scientific Soccer Lads and will have to make amends against a defensive side Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.

Adebayor, Yahaya Mohammed in hot race for the golden boot award

Inter Allies skipper and talisman Victorien Adje Adebayor and Aduana Stars hitman Yahaya Mohammed are leading the goal kin chart after 10 rounds of matches played.

Adebayor scored a stunning brace against Berekum Chelsea on Saturday to take his tally to 10 goals while on Sunday, Yahaya Mohammed also responded with a brace in Aduana’s defeat to Liberty to go level on 10 goals.

Behind them are Prince Opoku Agyemang (Medeama) and Prince Kwabena Adu (Bechem United) who are also tied on 7 goals each.
