4TH ANNIVERSARY OF ACCRA DIAMOND LIONS CLUB

A Deputy Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Mrs.. Ama. Benyiwa-Doe, has observed that, despite the remarkable performance of a Ghana's economy, the poor and vulnerable are yet to receive the deserved attention. Nevertheless, the government would continue to pursue systematic initiatives aimed at achieving greater equity in income distribution for all social groups. Mrs.. Benyiwa-Doe made this observation at the fourth anniversary of the Accra Diamond Lions Club. She said the government needs the support of NGO's and other charitable bodies to come up with a well co-ordinated mechanism for achieving maximum effectiveness in meeting the needs of the disadvantaged. Mrs.. Benyiwa-Doe noted that, this can be done through greater consultation between both public and private organisations that represent a broad spectrum of interests for the handicapped and disadvantaged. The newly installed President of the Club, Wing Commander Emmanuel Kwesi Apiedu, said members of the Club are more determined to excel in all aspects of service to mankind. He implored all other NGO's to help make life more meaningful for the less fortunate through active participation activities geared towards minimizing the suffering of the poor. End
