39-year-old farmer remanded for defilement

The Winneba District Magistrate Court has remanded a 39-year-old farmer in prison custody for defiling an 11–year-old pupil at Gomoa Mandoh in the Central Region.

Kojo Obuak's plea was not taken, and he will re-appear on January, 6, 2014.

Narrating the facts of the case to the court presided over by Mr Charles Owusu Nsiaah, Police Detective Inspector Victor Darke said the mother of the victim together with the accused person lives in the same area at Gomoa Mandoh.

The prosecution said in November, the accused asked the girl to run an errand for him, and when she returned, he invited her to his room and defiled her.

Inspector Darke said Obuak threatened to beat the girl mercilessly if she exposes him.

He said, on December 10, the mother of the victim detected changes in the walking of her daughter and when she questioned her, she narrated her ordeal.

He said on December, 19, the matter was reported to the Winneba Police, and the accused was arrested and arraigned.
