30 people died in road accidents in less than a month

In less than one month, thirty people have lost their lives in road accidents in Ghana, the Executive Secretary of Ghana Road Safety Commission, Noble Appiah, has told the press Thursday in Accra.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Appiah said the commission was worried about the turn of event in the country where just the beginning of the year, road accident reared its ugly head claiming thirty lives and injured several others.

According to him, Ghana Road and Safety Commission was going to mount a vigorous campaign to nib over-speeding that has been identified as the main causes of accidents in the bid.

Last Tuesday, 15 people lost their lives in a road accident when two buses collided in the northern part of the country.

Statistics released by the Commission on deaths caused by road accidents last year put the figure at 6,000 with most of them being males.
