President Mahama has refuted assertions that his appointees to spearhead the execution of the president’s special projects will end up duplicating the responsibilities of some ministries.
Inaugurating the three appointees dubbed the “three wise men” at the Flagstaff house on Thursday, President Mahama clarified they will play an integral role in the implementation of the government’s priority projects within his first term in power.
They are charged with superintending the construction of 200 Senior High Schools across the country, the putting up of 10 regional hospitals as well as the construction of a new international Airport in Accra and a new University in the Eastern region.
President Mahama said Ghanaians will appreciate the rationale behind the task force whose original members include veteran politicians E. T. Mensah, Alban Bagbin and Cletus Avoka.
Two additional members including P.V. Obeng and Dr Stephen Ayidiga have been added to the original three.
Speaking on behalf of the task force, its convener P. V. Obeng said the group will work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them by the President.
