Three men, who took turns to have sex with a 14-year-old girl at Half Assini in the Western region, are to be charged with defilement and assault.

The three: Alexander Sam, 23; Joseph Buah, 27; both unemployed, and Godwin Bessah, 23; a student of Half Assini Senior High School, met the girl around 11:00pm on Saturday February 20, 2016 as she returned from selling sachet water.

Jomoro District Commander Supt John Ferguson Dzineku, who confirmed the case to Class News, said the three suspects are in police custody and would be arraigned before court.

He said: “On the 20th of this month, the young lady was returning from selling sachet water. On her way back home, she met the three men – one of them she knew very well – and all three men took turns to defile her.

“She came home, reported the case to her grandmother, who also reported to the police. She was taken to the hospital and treated, but the following day, she had severe abdominal pains and had to be taken back to the hospital.”

He noted that the police did not find any Indian hemp on the suspects although the victim alleged they were smoking Indian hemp when she met them.

“We will charge them for defilement and assault. According to the victim, one of them beat her whenever she shouted [during the defilement]. They will be arraigned before the Sekondi Circuit Court B,” he disclosed.
