The former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, who is being prosecuted for causing financial loss to the state to the tune of $2 million in the Accra SkyTrain project, was granted bail on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi was able to meet his bail condition of providing two sureties for his GH¢10 million bail after New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, “stepped in”.

According to GHOne TV, “Kennedy Agyapong steps in as surety for Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi.”

A video shared by the media outlet showed Ken Agyapong arriving at the premises of the High Court in Accra with a brown envelope.

After alighting from his vehicle, Ken Agyapong, who is a former Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency, is seen briskly walking into the court.

Minutes after entering, the former legislator could be seen walking out of the courtroom.

As he was walking off, Ken could be seen gesturing to the media that he did not want to comment.

Meanwhile, Solomon Asamoah, the former Chief Executive Officer of GIIF, who, together with Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been accused of causing a $2 million financial loss in the SkyTrain project, remains in custody, having failed to meet his bail conditions.

The court granted Asamoah bail to the sum of GH¢15 million when the state filed charges against him on May 13, 2025, but according to graphic.com.gh, he has not yet been able to satisfy the bail condition.

The state has charged the two men with six counts in connection with the failed SkyTrain project involving $2 million.

The charges include:

Conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, wilfully causing financial loss to the state;

Wilfully causing financial loss to the state;

Conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, intentional dissipation of public funds; and

Intentional dissipation of public funds.

During proceedings on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Asamoah pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
