A total of 289,207 students across the country are writing this year’s ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), that will grant them access to tertiary institutions.

The students are drawn from 916 schools.

Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Thursday morning toured some examination centers in the Greater Accra Region to get first hand information about candidates writing the exams.

His visit, was to also encourage the students to do their best and not to resort to exam malpractices as that would lead to their papers being canceled. The students are writing Integrated Science today.

He first visited PRESEC, Legon, where 925 students are writing this year’s exams. He then made stopovers at the Achimota Secondary School and the Accra Girls Senior High School.
