26 Nigerian fraudsters arrested at Ashalley Botwe

Twenty-six Nigerians have been busted by the police at Ashalley Botwe in Accra for allegedly engaging in cyber fraud.

The suspects who are between the ages of 19 and 35 years, were caught operating in a room.

They are Chris Ekena, Ken Ezebowa, Eugene Mike, Monday Osas, Ota John, Jude Williams, Isaac Smart, Noel Happy, Omayogbe Kerry, Ifoa Iris, Sanusi Dayo, Joshua Omaha, Vincent Oyakiri, and Stephen Seever,

The rest are Manfred Isaac, Destiny Omowa, Precious Osaeje, Osas Godwin, Mavin Evans, Julius Imariabni, Samuel Junior, Olu Benson, Chris Ogbe, Osaze Felix, Osaze Jackson and Kingsley Anthony.

Items retrieved from the suspects were 33 laptops, and its accessories, 26 mobile phones and a number of pen drives.

The Madina Divisional Crime Officer, Superintendent Joseph Oppong, told the Ghanaian Times in Accra that the suspects were arrested upon a tip off.

He said at about 1p.m. on August 25, the police had information about the operation of the suspects in a room at Zoomlion area, at Ashalley Botwe, adding that the team that was deployed to the area found them engaging unsuspecting victims on the internet and on phone.

He said the laptops would be sent to the Cyber Crime Department of the Ghana Police Service for examination, adding that the Ghana Immigration Service would also be contacted to know their immigration status.

Supt Oppong said that they would be charged for internet fraud and be prosecuted after investigations.
