Twenty-five-year-old Samuel Addo on Tuesday received cutlass wounds on his head and hands after Kennet Kwatia popularly known as Kwame K attacked him with a machete during a misunderstanding that ensued after the district assembly election in Akuapem Abiriw in the Eastern region.
The victim was rushed to Tetteh Quarshie memorial Hospital for treatment but has been referred to the Koforidua regional Hospital for intensive care.
Speaking to Starr News, Addo explained that he went to the polling station to support his brother in-law who emerged winner in the local elections for the area.
According to him, a fight ensued between the suspect, Kwame K, a-30-year-old unemployed, and a friend and he decided to separate. He said the suspect who was not happy with his intervention later ambushed him and attacked him with a machete.
Addo added that it took the intervention of his friends who rushed to the scene to take him to the hospital.
The Mother of the victim, Florence Addo, who is saddened by the incident told Starr News that she wants the Police to expedite action on the matter.
Meanwhile, information available indicates that, the Akropong Police has granted bail to the suspect.
