Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Subin constituency within the Kumasi metropolis have threatened to place an injunction on the party’s extraordinary delegates conference scheduled for this weekend in the Ashanti Regional capital.

The aggrieved delegates numbering two hundred and forty (240) are in arms with the party’s leadership alleging some national officers in connivance with constituency executives have clandestinely expunged their names from the constituency delegates’ list

Spokesperson for the affected delegates, Mr. Osei Assibey alleged their Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi led by the constituency secretary, Mr. Akuamoah Boateng are behind the removal of those names.

According to Mr. Osei Assibey, it is a ploy by the MP and some constituency executives as well as some national officers to gag them from taking part in voting in their upcoming conference.

“We know that our MP and some constituency executives are behind the removal of our names”, the spokesperson alleged on several radio interviews in the region.

“We will do everything humanly possible to stop those people even if it has to take us to go to court, we are ready to secure an injunction to stop this conference”, Mr. Akuamoah Boateng later confirmed his threats to mynewsgh.com.

“If the right thing is not done before Saturday, our intention will be to take an action. …we want a proper register to be used for whatever we intend doing”, he exclusively told our Regional Correspondent, Kwabena Danso-Dapaah.

Meanwhile, the party’s leadership in the region has appealed for calm as Regional Secretary, Sam Pyne promised to take up the concerns of persons whose names have been expunged from the party’s electoral register.

“We will not leave your concerns here……we will investigate every single allegation raised”, the Regional Secretary assured when he spoke to the issue on Nhyira FM.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its extraordinary delegates’ conference come Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Kumasi.

The conference is in pursuance to Article 9(A)(5) of the NPP constitution according to the Acting General Secretary of the party John Boadu.

“The agenda for the conference is to deliberate, consider and adopt a draft constitutional amendment for the party”, he explains.
