A 23-year-old student, Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford, has been arrested by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly sharing obscene content online, an offence under Section 280 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to a police report released on February 27, 2026, the suspect, who is described as a popular social media user, was arrested after officers conducting routine cyber patrol came across intimate videos circulating online that allegedly involved him.
“The content was posted on Snapchat public account by the above-named @biggforddd123. The recordings involved multiple females, with recordings dating between 2023 and January 26, 2026. The suspect was immediately invited and questioned about the videos, and he admitted to posting the same on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026,” the report said.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly explained that he shared the videos in response to a trending activity on social media.
Police said Hayford told investigators that the videos were posted as part of a TikTok challenge known as “Auntie Shakira”.
“He further admitted to recording another sex video in 2023, which he claimed to have sold to an American woman known as Naya, for an amount of $600, equivalent to GH¢6,500 at the time.
“One of the women featured in the videos, identified as Portia Ampofo, was also invited to the station for investigation,” the report added.
The police noted that after preliminary investigations, the suspect was handed over to the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department to assist with further enquiries.
Following the interview and the facts gathered so far, the suspect was granted police enquiry bail while investigations continue.
The police also cautioned the public against sharing explicit or offensive materials on the internet, stressing that such conduct is against the laws of the country.
“The police take this opportunity to caution the general public against posting obscene and other related materials online since that is against the laws of the land. The police will go all out to ensure that the Internet is safe for every Ghanaian,” the report added.
