A 22-year-old man, identified as Kwame Krah, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing and burying his two-year-old son.

The incident took place at Koraso Ward 1, near Berekum in the Bono Region. Reports indicate that the young man is believed to have buried the minor approximately a month ago.

Nana Kwame, our reporter in the region, covered the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.

He reported that the minor's mother had entrusted her son to the suspect, the child's father, while she sought employment.

According to the report, the son, named Kwame Junior, was initially left with his grandmother.

However, following an argument, the suspect returned to retrieve him. It is believed that the child fell ill, but the suspect failed to seek medical treatment, which allegedly led to the boy's death.

Subsequently, the suspect is said to have placed his son in a charcoal bag and buried him. He then left the area and remained in hiding for a month.

Upon his return, the mother of the child confronted him regarding the whereabouts of Kwame Junior.

After repeated questioning, he confessed to having killed and buried the boy about a month prior.

The exact circumstances leading to the child's death remain ambiguous, as the suspect has provided conflicting accounts.

Initially, he claimed that the child became sick and died, leading him to bury him. However, under pressure from local youth, he presented a different narrative, suggesting he had killed his son.

The situation escalated to the point where the police had to intervene to prevent the suspect from being lynched by the incensed local youth. The police discharged warning shots when their pleas to bring the suspect to the police station were ignored.

The suspect is now in custody and is assisting the police with their investigation.
