In a hard-fought race, Ibrahim Ahmed of the National Democratic Congress has emerged victorious in the Banda Constituency parliamentary election. Provisional results show Ahmed secured a narrow but decisive win over his closest rival, Joe Danquah of the NPP.
As of the latest count, Ibrahim Ahmed garnered approximately 9,150 votes, while Joe Danquah trailed with 8,010 votes. Voter turnout was higher in urban areas, with more participation than in rural regions of the constituency.
The election, which focused heavily on local issues such as economic development, infrastructure, and education, saw both candidates addressing concerns over unemployment and healthcare issues that resonated strongly with voters.
In his victory speech, Ibrahim Ahmed thanked his supporters and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. “This victory is not just mine, but a win for the people of Banda,” he said.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure the progress and development that our constituency deserves. This election was about the future of Banda, and I am committed to delivering on that promise.”
Joe Danquah, while conceding defeat, congratulated Ahmed on his victory and called for unity.
“I respect the choice of the people and wish Ibrahim the best as he takes on this responsibility,” he said. “Our democracy is strong, and I remain committed to serving our community in other capacities.”
