2020: Reject Mahama, he failed northerners – Bugri Naabu

The former Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bugri Naabu, has asked the youth in the region to reject Mr John Dramani Mahama in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr Naabu said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is already doing the work the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer has promised to do for northerners if elected as president in 2020.

According to Mr Naabu, Mr Mahama failed the people of the north when he was president.

The outspoken former Chairman said the creation of two new regions in the north and the restoration of peace to the Dagbon traditional area means Nana Akufo-Addo has already achieved what the people were yearning for.

Mr Naabu noted that although Mr Mahama is from the north, he was unable to achieve that for his own people.

In an exclusive interview with Class News’ northern regional correspondent Mohammed Gadafi, Mr Naabu said the peace in the area is a landmark achievement and a manifestation of the hard work of the Akufo-Addo-led government.

He said: “We now have a Ya Na, we have Yo Na, we have Mion Lana, the Tolon Lana, the most difficult areas that we used to have conflict, the President has brought peace to those places and we don’t have any problem again.

“He [Mahama] couldn’t create the regions for us, he said it couldn’t work. Did he create regions? Was he able to settle the problems in the Northern Region, especially Dagbon; Abudu-Andani, was he able to do it? So, if this man who is not a northerner has come to create two more regions, brought Dagbon crisis to an end and today we are having peace everywhere and can do our businesses, what can we do than praise him and vote massively for his government to remain in power.”

Mr Naabu appealed to the youth to vote for the NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2020 general elections. He said: “This is the only way to show gratitude and appreciation to him.”
