20 babies delivered during Christmas at Swedru

Twenty babies, made up of 10 boys and 10 girls were delivered at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital during the Christmas festivity.

Dr Apetogbor Dzedzegbe, Medical Superintendent of Agona Swedru Government Hospital made this known to Ghana News Agency at Swedru on Saturday.

He said 12 babies made up of seven males and five females were delivered on Christmas day while eight babies comprising five females and three males were born on Boxing Day.

According to him three of babies were born through operation.

Dr Dzedzegbe said the two “assisted deliveries and one vacuum extraction are still on admission receiving treatment”.

He said the rest of the mothers and their babies who were in good condition of health have been discharged.

The Medical Superintendent exhorted pregnant women in the Agona West Municipality to attend antenatal clinic regularly to enable them deliver safely.
