The police at Amasaman in the Ga West municipality in the Greater Accra Region, have arrested two men engaged in homosexuality on a school compound.

They are Benjamin Ashietey, 23, a trader in cosmetics and Gideon Kporzu, 26, unemployed.

Ashietey, said to have another partner (“husband”) in Accra told the police he had been in the practice since he was a teenager and that he charged between GHc20 and GHc50 for the act.

The Amasaman District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sebastian Adigiya, told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that on September 13, at about 10 a.m., the two were caught red handed by private security personnel at the Amasaman Cluster of Schools.

He said the security personnel, with the help of some other people arrested the two and handed them over to the police.

ASP Adigiya said the two, who admitted to the act, were currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigation.

He said Ashietey told the police that he was approached by Kporzu for sex to which he agreed and they moved to the school compound for it.

He said Act 104 Section (2) of the Criminal Offences Act states, “Unnatural carnal knowledge is a sexual intercourse with a person in an unnatural manner or with an animal.”

ASP Adigiya said the offence is a first degree felony under the criminal offences.

ASP Adigiya said suspects said they would soon be put before court for unnatural carnal knowledge.
