2 arrested over 802 cartons of expired Energy Drink

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has arrested two persons over 802 cartons of unwholesome canned Lucozade energy drink belonging to Andiana Royal Ventures at a warehouse in Hong Kong near Lapaz in Accra.

The products which will expire on September 19, 2019, were being relabeled to expire on September 19, 2020.

Two persons involved in the relabeling have been arrested.

In a press release signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Delese A. Darko copied to MyNewsGh.com, the FDA advised consumers to be vigilant and report any suspicions of tampering on products expiry dates to the authority.

It also assured the general public that its wellbeing is the priority of the authority.

“The Food and Drugs Authority wishes to bring to the attention of the general public that on Saturday, 7th September 2019 it detained a consignment of 802 cartons of canned Lucozade belonging to Andiana Royal Ventures at a warehouse in Hong Kong near Lapaz in Accra.

The expiry dates of the canned Lucozade were being deliberately and fraudulently changed from September 2019 to September 2020.

The batch numbers of the said canned Lucozade include SEP 19 L4A and SEP 19 L4B
