1st Deputy Majority Whip opens up about her journey to Parliament

Member of Parliament for Ada, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, has shared the inspiring journey that led her to winning the parliamentary seat.

In an interview on Adom TV, monitored by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, she recalled facing scepticism from friends when she first declared her intention to contest the seat.

"When I first declared my intention to contest the parliamentary seat, I had very little support. Some of my friends did not believe in my vision, and even my husband initially doubted whether I could win," she said.

"A friend offered me ₵500 to support my campaign, but it wasn’t enough. Even contesting for a district assembly election requires around ₵1,500. I had no helpers, no financial backers," Doyoe recalled.

Despite these obstacles, she drew on years of experience working at the grassroots level, connecting directly with the community and understanding their needs.
