17-year old suspected armed robber arrested at Bechem

Bechem (B/A), April 3, GNA - The police at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region, have placed a 17-year old Kwame Owusu Ansah, alias Anwane, a suspected armed robber in custody for attempted robbery. His accomplices were said to be on the run. A police source said, a 43-year old Kwaku Agyei, a carpenter, caused the arrest of the suspect at dawn last Monday when he woke up to attend to nature's call.

Agyei told the police that he saw his nephew's door opened with some persons loitering around but could not identify them. He said later when he decided to check the nephew's room he luckily pounced on the suspect wielding a kitchen knife. Agyei said when he shouted for help his nephew and other other tenants came around and they succeeded in arresting the suspect. When the suspect was searched pair of scissors and pliers were found on him. At the police station the suspect gave his name as Kwame Frimpong but upon further interrogation he disclosed his real name as Kwame Owusu Ansah.

He named his other teenage accomplices as Aluta and Kofi Fofie alias Koofie both aged 17 years, Kyekyeku, 18, and Baba Ketewa who age was not mentioned.
